Kinetix Transition
When is a Disco not fun? Â When everything stops moving.Â
We’re not talking about a cosmic 70’s dance party.Â
We’re talking about the end-of-life plan for Ultra 3000 servo drives on 12/31/21 and full discontinuation by 12/31/22.
Ok, so it’s not likely that everything will stop moving, but it does mean it’s time to consider the next step of modernization. In a friendly application, the typical lifecycle of the Ultra 3000 has been 10-15 years, but the truth is that technology is moving faster than the typical lifecycle.  Even if your Ultra 3000 is still functioning, it will get harder to find parts -- and people -- to service this old asset.
The next step toward motion modernization, is migrating to the Kinetix family of products. Â The Kinetix 5100 series (stand-alone indexing) and Kinetix 5300 series (ENET CIP motion using Logix 5000 programming platform) are the latest offerings to be included with the existing Kinetix 5500 series (ENET CIP motion using Logix 5000 programming platform), all offering new motion technology, advanced safety and higher performance in a smaller footprint.Â
Reference the table below for a list of the Ultra 3000 drives that will be impacted and their recommended migration path to latest series of Kinetix servo drives.Â
As you consider the life of your motion control products, we can also help you look at the rest of your plant with a Rockwell Automation® Installed Base Evaluation (IBE).  An IBE is much more than simply counting parts. It’s a thorough analysis of your critical plant assets and their condition. This service provides the knowledge needed to help you make data-driven decisions regarding the support and obsolescence management of your installed base assets. With an IBE, we can help you better understand and pinpoint your lifecycle risk by site, area, line, machine and panel. And by optimizing your Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO), we’ll help ensure you have the right parts, in the right place, at the right time
Demanding market conditions pose significant challenges. Across the enterprise and throughout the lifecycle, you must look for ways to leverage and protect your automation investment. Â We can help. Read more here.
